PRINCETON, N.J. – The LIU women's ice hockey team hung in with one of the top teams in the nation on the road Monday afternoon, eventually falling to the #13 nationally-ranked Princeton Tigers, 1-0. Goalie
Tindra Holm made 38 saves for the Sharks, while
Alva Johnsson blocked seven shots on defense.
SHARK BITES
- Princeton's lone goal came midway through the first period on an even strength attempt. But after that shot, Holm and LIU's defense was a wall.
- The Tigers had 81 shots in the game, including 39 on net. And the Sharks blocked 24 shots on defense, led by Johnsson's seven.
- Abby Latorella, Julia Hoffmann and Maggie Korneta each blocked three shots, while Issy Lebrun blocked two, and six other Sharks had a block each.
- LIU also killed off three power plays successfully in the loss.
- It is the second time this season that the Sharks have stayed within one goal against a top-15 ranked team.
- Up next, the Sharks head to Erie, Pa. to take on Mercyhurst in a two-game series, January 7 & 8.
