AMHERST, N.Y. – The LIU men's volleyball team headed upstate to participate in the Battle for New York, a four-team event joint hosted by Daemen and D'Youville. The Sharks beat D'Youville, 3-1 in the second game of the day, after opening with a loss to Daemen, 3-0. The Sharks were led by
Jordan Cooper who had 23 kills and eight digs for the day.
SHARK BITES - LIU vs. Daeman
- LIU opened the day with a loss to Daeman, 25-18, 25-18, 28-26.
- Junior outside hitter Jordan Cooper led the Sharks offensively in the first match with eight kills.
- Senior Mark Stapley and freshman Luke Chandler each had five kills.
- Freshman setter Luca Holanda had 19 assists and five digs to pace the offense.

SHARK BITES - LIU vs. D'Youville
- LIU fared better in the second match, earning their second win of the season and beating D'Youville in four, 25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 25-22.
- Cooper also led the Sharks in match two, with 15 kills and eight digs.
- Junior Caden Satterfield was also in double digits, with 12 kills and two services aces.
- Chandler had 10 kills and two aces in the win.
- After the Sharks won the first set, D'Youville battled back in the second set to steal a 27-25 win, and even the match, 1-1. LIU rebounded in set three, hitting .304 to take the win, and the 2-1 match advantage.
- In the fourth set, the score remained tight, as the Sharks and the Saints went back and forth, but the Sharks pulled out the 25-22 win, outscoring the Saints 5-2 on the last serves of the set.
- Freshman Kasey Clouet had 28 assists, four digs, three blocks and an ace to help lift the Sharks over the Saints.
- Danny Seliger led the defense with nine digs, while Holanda had 15 assists.
Up next, the Sharks head to Honolulu to take on the University of Hawai'i on February 8, 9, and 11.
