Women’s Basketball Clashes with Fairleigh Dickinson

 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU women's basketball team hosted Fairleigh Dickinson University on Sunday afternoon in the Steinberg Wellness Center, falling 49-36 to the Knights. Senior guard Shyla Sanford was the point leader for the Sharks with nine, shooting three-for-five from beyond the arc.

  • Despite the chill outside, the Knights got off to a hot start inside in first quarter, but the Sharks were able to battle back and reduce the deficit to just three and trail 14-11.
  • In the second quarter, the Knights pulled away again, holding the Sharks to just four points in the 10 minute time frame, and leading 24-15 at the halftime buzzer.
  • The Sharks were unable to pull back from the deficit and, even with an attempt in the second half, couldn't outscore the Knights, finishing behind at 49-36.
  • Redshirt junior guard Kennedy Taylor and senior forward Kiara Bell both had six points and Bell pulled down six rebounds.
  • Senior Brandy Thomas had five points and six rebounds.
  • Up next, the Sharks host the CCSU Blue Devils in the Steinberg Wellness Center on Thursday, January 23 at 7 p.m.
