BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU women's basketball team battled the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers on Monday night in the Steinberg Wellness Center leading the game until late in the 4th quarter, but the Terriers pushed back and defeated the Sharks 59-53.

• A St. Francis Brooklyn shooting foul on senior Brandy Thomas' made layup with 34 seconds left, and a three by sophomore Dallas Carter had the Sharks up in the first quarter, 17-14, with 15 seconds left.
• The Sharks wouldn't trail again until the final five minutes of the game.
• Senior Kiara Bell and Thomas each made a pair of free throws late in the fourth quarter to keep the Sharks in it, but it ultimately wasn't enough to take down the Terriers.
• Freshman guard Emaia O'Brien led the team with 16 points and four rebounds.
• Thomas finished the game with 10 points and six rebounds.
• Up next, the Sharks head to Staten Island to take on Wagner College on January 21.
