SHARKS WIN! Men’s Basketball Top Terriers, 80-65

BROOKLYN, N.Y.  – The LIU men's basketball team survived a late surge from St. Francis Brooklyn on the road Monday afternoon to win their fourth-straight, beating the Terriers, 80-65. Sophomore Kyndall Davis led the Shark attack with 19 points.

SHARK BITS
  • With the win, LIU moves to 4-2 in Northeast Conference action, sliding into second in the conference standings.
  • The Sharks, driving by five early points from senior Tre Wood, took an early 8-2 lead on the Terriers. SFBK would come back to take the lead at the 12-minute mark, and the two teams would trade back and forth until the four-minute mark.
  • Davis would hit back-to-back three pointers, and senior Ty Flowers added three for a 9-0 Shark run in just over one minute that gave them the 36-27 lead. LIU held on to that lead, and had a 40-33 advantage at the break.
  • The Sharks would put together a 17-7 run in the second half, taking a 57-43 lead, their widest of the game.
  • But the Terriers strung together a comeback late in the period, closing the lead to just eight points with 2:39 to play, and threatening a comeback on their home court.
  • In the final minute, however, the Sharks scored 10 unanswered points, including two steals that were converted to a fast break dunk for Davis, and a layup for Eral Penn, widening the lead back to double digits.
