TOWSON, Md. – The LIU field hockey team dropped a close one on the road Sunday afternoon in their final tune up before Northeast Conference play begins. The Sharks fell to Towson, 1-0 at the Towson Field Hockey Complex to move to 2-6 on the season.
 
Towson would score on a corner 10 minutes into the game to go up, 1-0. Neither team would find the back of the net again, and the next 50 minutes were evenly matched. The Tigers would outshoot LIU, 9-6, and had a slight 6-4 advantage on penalty corners.
 
Senior Rachel Vellis made five saves in the game to keep the Sharks in in throughout.
