HACKENSACK, N.J. – The LIU women's volleyball team opened Northeast Conference play Friday evening on the road in a big way, rallying to beat Fairleigh Dickinson on the road, 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-20, 18-16).
SHARK BITES
- The game was back and forth throughout the night. The Knights took an early lead winning the first set, 25-23, but the Sharks battled back in set two to win 25-23 and even it up, 1-1.
- Sets three and four followed similar patterns, before the fifth set battle.
- The Sharks had match point multiple times, with FDU battling back each time to force play to continue.
- Freshman Katie Berg had a kill that gave the Sharks match point again, 17-16, and this time, a dump from setter Ainsley Malis won the match for LIU, 18-16, with the 3-2 match advantage.
- Senior Jovana Stekovic had 26 kills in the match to lead all players, along with 15 digs.
- Sophomore setter Ainsley Malis had 51 assists and 21 assists, leading LIU's offense and defensive efforts.
- Karolina Nova had 17 kills and 12 digs. Barbora Hoskova had 14 digs and eight kills, while Anastasia Scott had 18 digs and eight assists.
- With the win, LIU moves to 4-9 on the season, and 1-0 in NEC play.
