HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The LIU field hockey team fell to local rival Hofstra, 3-1 on the road Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Sharks move to 1-4 on the season.
 
Senior Sammy Bell scored LIU's lone goal in the fourth period. Bell capitalized on a penalty corner, scoring off the dribble on a pass from Samantha Olton.
 
The Sharks had more shots (11-10) and corners (12-4) than the Pride, but Hofstra would score a gooal in the second, third and fourth period to seal the win.
