STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The LIU men's soccer team opened the 2021 season on the road Thursday evening, taking on local rival Stony Brook. The Seawolves got the best of the Sharks in the humid contest, scoring in the 81st minute to take the 1-0 win.
LIU outshot the host team 13-5, but missed the target, registering just two shots on net. The game was a chippy one, with six combined cards and over 30 fouls between the two squads.

Alan Martinez had both shots on net for LIU. Stony Brook's lone goal came at 81:36 on a low shot, giving the Seawolves their first win of the season, as LIU moves to 0-1-0.
