SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The men's outdoor track & field team capped the 2021 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a gold medal Sunday afternoon at Bryant University. Freshman
Momodou Sey took home his first championship medal, winning the 100m dash.
The Sharks finished the day in sixth out of 10 teams, with 75 points.
Sey won the 100m dash with a time of 10.48, a full two tenths of a second ahead of the field. Teammate
Jordan McKenzie also brought home a medal, taking third by just one hundredth of a second, with a time of 10.75 seconds. Junior
Destyn Harding also scored points with a sixth place finish in 10.95 seconds.
McKenzie also medaled in the 200m dash, coming in third with a time of 21.72. And
Michael Jones Jr. came in fifth, with a time of 21.90 seconds.
Sophomore
Jahsira J. Dunbar earned silver in the triple jump, with a final distance of 15.92m, while
Krishna White came in fifth at 14.60m.
The Sharks also had a silver medal performance in the 4x100m relay, as Harding, Sey,
Joseph Fontes and McKenzie came in second with a time of 41.66 seconds.
The 4x400m relay team of Jones, McKenzie,
Kasique Oliver and
TJ Roberts scored points coming in fourth, with a time of 3:15.39, and in the 800m, Oliver came in fourth place overall with his time of 1:55.65. Roberts also scored points in the 400m hurdles, coming in fifth in 55.22.
