BETHPAGE, N.Y. – The LIU women's tennis team remained perfect in Northeast Conference action Sunday, beating Sacred Heart 4-3, to improve to 7-0 this season.
 
The Pioneers got the first point of the day, winning in the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles spots to take the doubles point. Victoria Erechtchenko and Jasmine Maduel had a win in the No. 2 spot, 6-3.
 
In singles, the two teams battled it out, and it came down to the bottom of the lineup. Sofiya Kuzina had the first win of the day, beating Vitalina Golod at No.1, 6-2, 6-1, to tie up the match, 1-1. Valentina Dancenco gave LIU the lead when she beat Ciara O'Toole in the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-2.
 
SHU would win at Nos. 3 and 4, retaking the lead, 3-2, but both Bianca Compuesto and Kate Jorjoliani would win in straight sets to clinch the win for LIU. Compuesto beat Lauren Santarsiero at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2, while Jorjoliani beat Keira Tobia at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
