Men’s Basketball Takes on Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The LIU men's basketball team had an early lead on the road at Towson Thursday night, but couldn't sustain it, falling to the Tigers, 72-63. With the loss, LIU moves to 1-6 on the season, while Town improves to 5-3.
 
SHARK BITES
  • LIU started the game on a 12-2 run, but after a media timeout, Towson rallied to go on a 20-2 run that would give them the lead, 22-14. They never relinquished it.
  • The Sharks would cut the lead down to two before the half, but were behind 34-30 at the break.
  • Towson shot 48 percent from the field in the second half, while LIU hit just 32 percent of its shots, as the Tigers would hold the lead for the entirety to take the win.
  • Three Sharks had double digits in the loss. Graduate student Isaac Kante led LIU with 17 points, going 6-for-10 from the field. He also had six rebounds.
  • Eral Penn had 14 points and five rebounds for LIU, while Tre Wood had 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
  • Alex Rivera had nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds, along with three assists.
  • Up next, LIU returns to New York City to take on local rival Fordham, Thursday, December 9 at 7 p.m.
