Men’s Basketball Squares Off With Saint Peter’s

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The LIU men's basketball team saw a late opportunity at a win slip away Tuesday night at the Yanitelli Center, as the Sharks fell to Saint Peter's, 64-62. Down by as many as 12 in the second half, LIU fought back to bring it within one, 58-57, with 51 seconds to play, but the Peacocks held on to take the win. With the loss, LIU is now 0-4 early in the season.
 
SHARK BITES
  • The Sharks struggled to shoot in the first half, making just 29 percent from the field, and 52 percent from the free throw line (10-for-19).
  • LIU improved those percentages in the second half to 41 percent and 78 percent, outscoring SPU 30-27 in the second stanza.
  • The Sharks out-rebounded the Peacocks, 38-36, and out-blocked as well, 11-5.
  • Senior Ty Flowers led the team in nearly every statistical category, finishing the night with 20 points, seven rebounds, seven blocks, three steals and two assists.
  • Senior Eral Penn had 17 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, while Isaac Kante had nine points and 11 rebounds.
  • Sophomore Kyndall Davis chipped in eight points, two blocks and two steals.
