NEWARK , N.J. – The LIU women's basketball team had a close one on the road Thursday evening, taking NJIT to overtime just 24 hours after their loss to Pitt. The Sharks outscored the Highlanders in the second, third and fourth quarters, forcing extra time before falling to NJIT, 59-53.

• The Sharks shot 66.67 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, but struggled in overtime.
• Senior Erykah Russell led LIU with 12 points and nine rebounds, along with three assists.
• Senior Kiara Bell had nine points, four rebounds and two blocks.
• Brandy Thomas added eight points and six rebounds.
• Freshman Danielle Grim led the team with three steals. She also had three rebounds and two points.
• Up next, the Sharks host Manhattan for their home opener, Wednesday, November 24 at 2 p.m.
