Women's Swimming Sweeps NEC Weekly Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU women's swimming team swept the Northeast Conference's weekly awards, the league office announced Wednesday. Sophomore Venna Andersen was named Swimmer of the Week, while freshman Allie Bashor was named the NEC's Rookie of the Week.

Andersen took the top spot in every individual event she swam this week, winning the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast, with times of 24.75, 53.27 and 1:05.29, respectively.

And in her first collegiate meet, Bashor took first in two individual events at the Brooklyn Invite. The rookie posted times of 57.87 in the 100 fly and 2:06.72 in the 200 fly.
