NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Long Island University men's basketball team has hit the road for a midweek matchup. The Sharks (11-13, 6-5 NEC) are set to square off with Central Connecticut State (2-25, 1-11 NEC) Thursday, February 13 at 7 p.m.

SHARK BITES
  • LIU is coming off one of their biggest games in recent memory. If you wanted a memorable evening, Saturday in the Steinberg Wellness Center was one for the record books. Multiple times. LIU beat league-leading Merrimack in overtime, 67-64, snapping the Warriors' nine-game winning streak and handing them just their second NEC loss of the season. But that wasn't even the biggest moment for LIU. A trio of Sharks hit career marks in the win Saturday:
  • Senior Raiquan Clark became LIU's all-time leading scorer, with his layup at 4:44 in the overtime period. He passed Jamal Olasewere, and now ranks first in program history, with 1,874 career points so far.
  • Redshirt junior Ty Flowers had 25 points and grabbed 27 rebounds. His rebound tally set a new LIU and Northeast Conference record, breaking a mark that had stood since 1983. LIU great Carey Scurry held the previous league and school record of 26 rebounds, set in February of 1983 against Marist.
  • And head coach Derek Kellogg earned his 200th career win as a head coach.
  • Earlier this season, CCSU and LIU faced off in downtown Brooklyn, with the Sharks pulling out a 90-78 win. Coach Kellogg had this to say about the Blue Devils following the game: "In league play, I think every team comes out and gives it their all. That was a hard fought W against a young, feisty, tough Central Connecticut team, who I thought gave us everything we could handle tonight."
  • Up next, LIU returns to downtown Brooklyn to host Sacred Heart for the first time this season, Saturday, February 15 at 4:30 p.m.
