BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Despite a 2-0 deficit at halftime, senior
Kyle Parish made sure the Long Island University men's soccer team's opening Northeast Conference (NEC) match of 2019 ended on a high note as he scored the match-winning goal in overtime to help lead the Sharks to a 3-2 win over Saint Francis University Friday afternoon at the LIU Soccer Park.

Papa Ndoye and sophomore
Athanasios Coutroumpas also scored for LIU. Ndoye has now scored in three consecutive matches and four out of the six matches he has appeared in. The Sharks also matched their season-highs in shots and shots on goal with 15 and seven.

Matias Pesallaccia recorded four saves.
While the Sharks had an early scoring opportunity, Coutroumpas' shot went high in the 15
th minute and just three minutes later the Red Flash would score their first goal of the match.
Ndoye would record his first shot on goal in the 22
nd minute then in the 36
th minute Parish sent a shot high. Unfortunately for LIU, it was Saint Francis who was next score as the Red Flash scored on a penalty kick and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Sharks had a strong start to the second half as Ndoye found the back of the net in the 49
th minute after receiving a header from Johnson. After receiving the header from across the box, Ndoye's shot rebounded off the left post into the back left corner.
The Sharks would produce another goal in the 82
nd minute; Parish threw the ball into the middle off the box where Faistenauer headed the ball onto the right boot of Coutroumpas, who fired the ball past SFU's goalkeeper to make it a 2-2 contest.
With no winner decided after 90 minutes, the match would go into overtime. In just the third minute of overtime, sophomore
Anton Ocampo took a free kick from the left side of the circle on the top of the box. He tapped the ball to Parish who wound up and sent the ball sailing past Saint Francis' goalkeeper to the top right corner, giving the Sharks the victory with a final score of 3-2.
