CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Long Island University women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 setback against Harvard University Saturday afternoon at Jordan Field in a non-conference matchup.

Sarah Borer led LIU with two shots while sophomores
Emily Tirado and
Kendra Oldroyd along with freshman
Sanna Vidstroem each recorded one shot on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Kayla DeTreux finished with a career-high 11 saves.
DeTreux had a strong start to the match as she saved two shots inside the opening two minutes, but the Crimson were able to sneak one past her in the ninth minute for Harvard's first goal of the match. She would record saves in the 10
th and 11
th minutes, but Harvard would score again in the 14
th minute on a penalty kick to take a 2-0 lead.
In the 18
th minute Borer almost scored LIU's first goal of the contest, but her shot hit the crossbar. She had another in the 29
th minute that missed wide and as neither side would score for the reminder of the half, the Crimson would take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Early in the second half, DeTreux would save a Harvard penalty kick in the 48
th minute but seconds after the Crimson scored again to take a 3-0 lead.
Vidstroem would launch a shot in the 58
th minute, but Harvard's goalkeeper was able to make the save then the Crimson were able to take a 4-0 lead in the 61
st minute. Oldroyd's shot in the 70
th minute was saved, then the Crimson were able to score their final goal of the match in the 75
th minute for a 5-0 advantage.
Tirado had a shot on goal in the 77
th minute, but as neither side would score for the remainder of the contest it would end with a 5-0 final score.
