BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University field hockey team is back in action on Sunday, September 15 when the Sharks head to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on the La Salle Explorers.
Notes on the Sharks
LIU is coming off a weekend road trip in Virginia where the Sharks fell twice in two closely contested battles against VCU and No. 25 William & Mary. Freshman forward
Kaitlyn Olton scored her first career goal against VCU. Junior goalkeeper
Rachel Vellis had 16 saves over the two games, including seven against the Rams and a season-high nine against the nationally ranked Tribe. Junior forward
Sammy Bell leads the team with 10 shots on goal.
Scouting the Explorers
The La Salle University Explorers come into the contest with a 2-2 overall record, most recently knocking off Wagner, 6-0. Junior Rialee Allen is coming off a strong performance where she scored a career-high four goals against the Seahawks and added an assist. Freshman Casey Reilly also scored her first career goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Cassie Kincaid earned her second shutout of the season, and had two saves.
