ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Long Island University women's rugby team closed out its fall 2019 schedule against Molloy College on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The match was played as a 12s match with three 20-minute games. LIU won the match by a 27-12 final, falling 7-5 in game one before taking the final two games by 12-5 and 10-0 margins.
LIU jumped out to an early lead when freshman
Sara-Grace McCannon scored the first try of the day midway through the first half of game one. The 5-0 lead carried into the second half until Molloy scored a try with four minutes remaining and added a successful conversion for the 7-5 final. It was all LIU from there, however, as the Sharks scoed an early try by sophomore Maquiesha Gillet and a conversion by freshman
Haniyah Baugh. Sophomore
Sydney Long scored a try during the second half to help LIU earn the 12-5 win in the second game.

Brianna Thomas each scored a try during the final game as LIU shut out the Lions by a 10-0 final.
The Sharks return to action in the spring for its 7s matches.
