UNIONDALE, N.Y.- The Long Island University women's ice hockey team capped its weekend series against No. 1 University of Wisconsin at the historic Nassau Coliseum on Saturday evening.
Matilda af Bjur led the team with three shots on the night.
Alva Johnsson,
Linn Thomsen, and
Morgan Schauer each finished with a shot.
af Bjur won a team best six faceoffs, while
Megan Bouveur won four and
Julia Hoffmann won three. The Sharks defense killed off two of the four Badgers' powerplays on the night.
Mia McLeod made her second collegiate start in net for the Sharks. She made 34 saves in 32 minutes of action.
Ava Bailey came in midway through the second period, and had 14 saves on the night.
Kenzie Harmison also saw time in net, and she made 20 saves on the night. McLeod, Bailey and Harmison had 68 combined saves on the night.
The Sharks are back in action on Friday October 25 when they visit the Yale Bulldogs for the first away series of the season. Game one at Ingalls Rink is set for 7:00 p.m.
