SYOSSET, N.Y.- Grace Dima scored her first career goal, and
Carrigan Umpherville scored in the second consecutive game, but the Long Island University women's ice hockey team fell to No. 1 University of Wisconsin on Friday afternoon.

The defending NCAA Division I National Champions came out strong, scoring six of the 10 goals in the first period. After settling down, the Sharks were able to hold the Badgers to two goals in the second period and two goals in the third period.

The Sharks had two shots in the first period, both of which were saved by the Badgers' goaltender. Umpherville would get the Sharks on board 12 minutes into the second period after taking advantage of a breakaway and finding the back of the net for the second straight game.

Dima scored her first collegiate goal in the 14
th minute of the third period for the Sharks' second goal of the day.
Matilda af Bjur notched her second assist of the season on Dima's goal.

Kenzie Harmison made her first collegiate start in net for the Sharks, and made 20 saves in the first period.
Mia McLeod came into the game in the second period and made 34 saves throughout the second and third periods. Harmison and McLeod made a combined 54 saves against the Badgers.

Offensively, the Sharks finished with 13 shots, with a game-high six shots in the third period. Carrigan, Umpherville, and
Paula Bergström each finished with three shots. Dima finished with two shots, while
Linn Thomsen and
Abby Latorella each had a shot against the Badgers. The Sharks had three powerplays during the game and were able to get a shot off on each one.

The Sharks will play at the historic Nassau Coliseum tomorrow, for the second game in the weekend series against the Badgers. Puck drop at the Coliseum is slated for 5:30 p.m.
