FORT MYERS, Fla. — LIU men's basketball is headed to the Sunshine State for some Thanksgiving basketball action.

The Sharks will participate in the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off Palms Division along with Northern Illinois, South Dakota and Sam Houston, the tournament announced Friday.

The event will take place Nov. 22-23 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College. 

The quartet of teams making up the Palms Division will join the previously announced Beach Division field of Georgia Tech, Marquette, Mississippi State and Utah, in Fort Myers during Thanksgiving week. Beach Division games will take place Nov. 21 and 23.

Final game times and matchups for all Beach and Palms Division contests will be announced in the coming weeks.

LIU announced on Thursday that Rod Strickland will lead the Sharks into the 2022-23 season as head coach.

The Strickland era begins Nov. 7 at Utah.
