Stormie Charles

Stormie Charles serves as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Long Island University, overseeing the men’s and women’s cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field programs. She was appointed head coach of men’s and women’s cross country in November 2023 and elevated to director in May 2024.

In 2025, LIU produced 11 podium finishes at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, including conference titles in the men’s 4x100-meter relay, men’s triple jump, men’s 4x800-meter relay and the women’s 5,000-meter run. Distance standout Hasnae Goulamzi set school records in both the outdoor 5,000 meters and the indoor 3,000 meters during the 2025 season.

Charles has also guided the program to notable progress in cross country. Goulamzi earned an NEC runner-up finish in 2024, and in 2025, the men’s cross country team placed third at the NEC Championships — the highest conference finish in the program’s Division I history. The men’s team also earned the NEC Team GPA Award with a 3.58 cumulative GPA.

Prior to LIU, Charles served as an assistant coach at Florida A&M University, where she assisted with training design, travel coordination and program operations.

Charles leads a program focused on competitive success, academic achievement, and student-athlete development.
