Jamere Dismukes joined the LIU men’s basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Dismukes is a seasoned basketball coach and educator with a proven track record of success at the high school, collegiate, and AAU levels. Known for his transformational leadership, strategic acumen, and player development expertise, he brings over a decade of experience shaping competitive programs and mentoring young athletes both on and off the court.
Before coming to LIU, Dismukes had served as the head boys basketball coach at Homewood-Flossmoor High School (Flossmoor, IL) since 2022. Dismukes compiled an impressive 81–22 overall record across three seasons. With that success he was named back-to-back IBCA District 8 Coach of the Year honors (2024, 2025), the school’s first Class 4A IHSA State Championship (2024), multiple tournament titles, including the Chicago Heights Classic and Big Dipper Holiday Tournament, and the Vikings were ranked top 35 in the country by MaxPreps and Ballislife. His teams have gone 30-2 in SWSC Conference play over the past two years and made a Sweet 16 appearance in 2025.
Prior to his tenure at Homewood-Flossmoor, Dismukes led Hyde Park Academy (2020–2022) to a Chicago Public League Elite 8 finish and a 29–13 record in his final season, earning IBCA District 3 Co-Coach of the Year in 2022. He also served as Head Coach at Rich East High School (2019–2020) and held assistant coaching roles at Indian Hills Community College, Victory Rock Prep, Black Hawk College, and Rich East High School.
In addition to high school and college coaching, Dismukes has played a pivotal role in grassroots basketball as a head and assistant coach for top-tier AAU programs, including Meanstreets (EYBL), Team Rose (Adidas Gauntlet), and Florida Sons (Adidas Gauntlet). His AAU teams consistently competed at the highest levels, helping develop nationally recognized talent.
Academically, Dismukes holds a master’s degree in secondary education from Grand Canyon University (2021), a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Chicago State University (2014), and an Associate of Arts from Black Hawk College (2011).
After graduating from Rich East High School in 2009, Dismukes began his collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. As a freshman guard, he appeared in 21 games, starting 16, and averaged 8.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. His immediate impact showcased his ability to adapt to the collegiate level and contribute significantly to the team's performance.
Seeking further development, Dismukes transferred to Black Hawk College for the 2010–2011 season. During his tenure, he played in 29 games, averaging14.1 points per game and 5.2 assists per game. He was named First Team All-Arrowhead, First Team All-Region, and an All-American Nominee.
Dismukes concluded his collegiate playing career at Chicago State University, competing at the NCAA Division I level. In the 2012–2013 season, he played in 31 games, averaging 9.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of 36.9% . His contributions were instrumental in Chicago State's success, leading to an All-Great West Conference Honorable Mention. In the 2013–2014 season, Dismukes appeared in 4 games, before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
