Harkness joins LIU after 2 seasons as the assistant men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach at Fordham University. While at Fordham, she co-led the women’s team to 2 undefeated dual meet seasons (‘21-’22 and ‘22-’23) and co-led the men’s team to their highest placement at the Atlantic 10 Conference championships since 2018.
Prior to Fordham, Harkness spent 2 seasons as the graduate assistant men’s and women’s swim coach at Division II Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, she co-led the men to back-to-back Mountain East Conference championship wins and co-led the women to back-to-back MEC runner-ups.
As an athlete, Harkness was a distance swimmer at Division II Emmanuel College (now Emmanuel University) from 2015-2019. During her time at Emmanuel, she was a 5-time school record holder, 2-time captain, SAAC representative, and was a member of two conference winning teams in 2018 and 2019. She competed at the collegiate national level at the CSCAA Open Water National Championships in 2017.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Harkness graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Emmanuel in 2019, and earned her Masters of Education degree from Notre Dame College in 2021.
