Alexa Mattera joined the LIU staff in the fall of 2021. She acts as the assistant coach.
Mattera played five seasons of lacrosse at nearby Hofstra, where she finished second all-time in draw controls and 10th all-time in points. She was a two-time captain, a CAA first-team selection, two-time CAA second-team, a CAA all-rookie team member, and was a member of the Hofstra FCA.
Mattera earned her bachelor's degree in linguistics from Hofstra in 2020 and her master's in special education/teaching english as a second language in 2022.
Hailing from East Islip, N.Y., Mattera attended East Islip High School and played lacrosse and basketball, scoring 1,000 points in her career.
