Gabriel Gamarra joined the LIU staff during the 2023-24 season to serve as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Gamarra arrived to LIU after serving as a St. Francis Brooklyn men's basketball graduate assistant and spending a year with the Division III Manhattanville College women’s basketball program.
Prior to his time at Manhattanville, Gamarra spent a year as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Manhattan College. In that position, he assisted the head coach and men's basketball program through various roles and responsibilities such as data entry, graphic design, game film operation and more.
Gamarra graduated from Manhattan College in 2019 with a bachelor’s in Journalism and a minor in Business Management. As an undergraduate, he was the manager and a practice player with the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The Washington Heights, N.Y. native coordinated film and assisted the program and staff with daily responsibilities.
Gamarra has been a coach at the Hoop Academy in New York since 2019. With constant support and energy, he teaches the basics of basketball to various youth age players.
