Andy Russo completed his 11th season as a full-time member of the LIU softball program in 2022.

Russo, who was a volunteer assistant for LIU in 2008, serves many roles with the coaching staff. His work with the hitters helped the 2020-21 squad to a number two national ranking in batting average between softball powers Oklahoma and Texas. Russo also assists with team defensive work, video breakdown, scouting reports and game strategies, student-athlete academic performance monitoring as well as being the programs national recruiting coordinator. 

Prior to his time at LIU, Russo spent four seasons as an assistant coach at St. John's, serving as the Red Storm's hitting coach while also working with infielders. In 2012, Russo helped St. John's to its first Big East Tournament win since 1990, a 2-1 victory over eventual NCAA Regional finalist Syracuse. He also mentored the 2012 Big East Player of the Year, Kacee Cox, who produced some of the best offensive numbers in St. John's history.

Russo currently resides in Manalapan, N.J., with his wife Andrea. He has a daughter and son named Sam and Joe.
