Chris Thomas joined the LIU staff in August 2022. He will serve as an assistant coach.
Thomas brings 18 years of NBA and overseas experience, most recently as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator with the Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors' G League affiliate.
With 905, Thomas helped the team reach the 2022 G League Playoffs, including an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
He was the head coach and general manager fro the Guaynabo Mets in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the 2020 and '21 seasons.
Thomas guided all-league players David Stockton, Angel Nunez, Renaldo Balkman and Tony Bishop.
Under his guidance, the team produced the longest winning streak of any team in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN).
He spent time coaching in Japan, Slovenia, Malaysia, China and Canada after a season as an advance scout for the Utah Jazz.
Thomas worked closely with Stephen Curry and David Lee of the Golden State Warriors as an advance scout from 2012-14.
Working with the Chicago Bulls from 2007-09, he was an integral part of the pre-draft evaluation of eventual No. 1 pick, Derrick Rose.
Thomas graduated from the University of Dayton, majoring in Sport Management and Journalism.
