TEANECK, N.J. – LIU secured wins in both games of a Saturday doubleheader vs. Norfolk State, earning a 7-5 victory in game two.
Much like in game one, the Sharks never trailed in the day's latter contest.
Ryan Rivera hit a solo shot in the first inning, and the slug-fest continued as
Mike Polubinski hit a two-run homer of his own in the second, helping LIU to a 3-0 lead.
The Sharks' offense remained active in the third, with Rivera driving in one more via a sacrifice fly and
Elijah Fairchild following that up with a two-run home run later in the inning to help LIU pull ahead 6-0.
Following a five-RBI day in game one,
Mason Breton added to an already successful weekend by doubling home LIU's final run later in the sixth.
Justin DeCastro struck out six through six innings for the Sharks, who will look to complete the series sweep against Norfolk State on Sunday, March 8 at 12 p.m. at FDU.
