BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — A trio of Sharks have earned NEC weekly honors after leading LIU to a 2-0 record, the conference announced Wednesday.
Owen Holowecky was named NEC Player of the Week, totaling 79 assists and six kills (with a .555 hitting percentage) through LIU's two victories. He also added six blocks, 18 digs, and 10 points.
On the defensive side,
Vanja Petrasinovic was honored with the NEC Defensive Player of the Week award. Petrasinovic posted twelve blocks through two games, including three solo blocks in LIU's 3-0 win over Barry.
Ike Vernon rounded things out for LIU with a Rookie of the Week honor. The freshman totaled 28 kills, nine blocks, and 10 digs.
LIU will return to action Friday, March 20, hosting FDU at 6 p.m.
