BRIDGEWATER, N.J.– Senior defender Tyler Davide of the Long Island University men's lacrosse team was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. The award is Davide's first career weekly honor from the NEC.
Davide, along with Ben McIsaac and Aidan Zuhoski, also received prime performer recognition from the conference.
This past Saturday at Iona University, Davide led all LIU defensemen with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, as the Sharks improved to 3-0 with a 16-10 win. McIsaac led all players with six points, scoring three goals with three assists. Zuhoski tallied two goals, two assists, and one ground ball.
Davide is the second LIU player to claim defensive player of the week honors in three weeks. Redshirt sophomore goalie Tyler Gresh was named defensive player of the week on Feb. 9, after week one of the season. Davide, Gresh, and senior attackman Cameron Connolly (player of the week, Feb. 9) have all earned weekly awards from the NEC this season.
