Men’s Soccer Surges to 4-1 NEC Start With Fourth Straight Win

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Men's soccer extended its winning streak to four games Thursday with a 3-0 win over FDU at LIU Soccer Park, improving to 4-1 in NEC play.

The Sharks have outscored opponents 9-1 during the four-game stretch, allowing just one goal while recording three shutouts. Thursday's win marked their second consecutive shutout as LIU continues its push through the conference schedule.

Tal Levy scored twice and Nic Robinson added a goal against FDU. Goalkeeper Samuel Reine made five saves over 90 minutes to secure the shutout.

LIU scored all three goals in the second half. Levy opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, then doubled the lead in the 71st minute off an assist from Diego Colon. Robinson made it 3-0 less than three minutes later, with Mika Leue and Jeffrey Vanegas recording assists.

The Sharks finished with 14 shots, including 10 on goal. Reine stopped four shots in the second half to keep FDU off the scoreboard.

The winning streak began with a 2-0 road win at Mercyhurst on Oct. 1. LIU followed with a 3-1 home win over Central Connecticut on Oct. 8 and a 1-0 road win at Howard on Oct. 18 before returning to Brookville for Thursday's shutout. The stretch includes two wins at home and two on the road.

LIU will look for its fifth consecutive win when it hosts Stonehill at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at LIU Soccer Park. The match will stream on NEC Front Row.

Three regular-season matches remain. Following Stonehill, the Sharks visit Chicago State on Nov. 1 before hosting Le Moyne in the regular-season finale Nov. 8.
