LORETTO, Pa. — The Long Island University women's basketball team (9-6, 4-0 NEC) wrapped up its road trip with a 77-61 win over Saint Francis University on Saturday afternoon, extending its winning streak to five consecutive games.
Saint Francis led 14-10 after the first quarter, but the Sharks opened the second quarter on a 15-3 scoring run capped off with a made basket by Laura Molnarova to take a 25-17 lead in the ballgame. LIU outscored the Red Flash 27-11 in the second quarter, leading by 12 at halftime.
LIU kept its momentum on the offensive end to begin the second half, putting up 26 points in the third quarter to maintain a 17-point lead entering the fourth quarter before winning the game 77-16.
Kadidia Toure had her seventh double-double of the season on Saturday, leading all players in points (22) and rebounds (10). This is the eighth game of the season where Toure has scored 20-plus points. The senior forward also had a game-high four steals and two blocked shots.
Graduate student Hannah Humphrey totaled 15 points, while Molnarova (13 points) and junior Janessa Williams (12) also netted double-digit points.
LIU returns to the floor on Thursday, Jan. 15, hosting Le Moyne College at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn.
