BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — After leading the Sharks to a 1-0-1 week and not allowing a single goal, redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Keely Thomas has been named NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Thomas started the week off by holding UAlbany in check during LIU's 0-0 tie (with one save) on Aug. 28. Just days later, she helped the Sharks secure their first win of the season, a 2-0 shutout over Quinnipiac on Sept. 1, all while recording six more saves.
In addition to earning DPOW honors, Thomas was also named an NEC Prime Performer alongside teammate
Betty Hall. Hall, a senior, scored the second goal of LIU's 2-0 win over Quinnipiac.
The Sharks will return to the field on Sunday, Sept. 7, hosting Temple at 12 p.m.
