BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Long Island University softball team is set to make its new home at the LIU Softball Stadium on the Post campus beginning with the 2027–2028 academic year. Starting then, all practices, competitions, and team operations will take place at the Post campus, with the first official intercollegiate competition scheduled for the Fall 2027 semester.

Prior to the scheduled transition, the softball program will continue to practice, compete, and maintain all operations in Brooklyn at the Steinberg Wellness Center and its athletic field for the duration of the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years.

In 2026, the Sharks enter a new era, led by head coach Rich Calvert. Calvert joined LIU as the fourth head coach in its Division I history after a successful 21-year tenure at Drake University (2003-2023). Calvert left Drake as the winningest coach in program history, amassing 568 wins, which also ranks fifth all-time in Missouri Valley Conference softball history.

This past season, LIU won the NEC regular season championship, posting a 26-23 overall record and a 16-5 mark in conference play. The Sharks reached the championship game of the NEC Tournament, led by six all-conference selections.
