Tyriq Outen turned away 32 shots to earn his second shutout and seventh win of the season.
Carter Rapalje provided all the offense LIU needed, scoring both goals. His first came on the power play 9:12 into the opening period, while he sealed the game with an empty-netter in the third, closing out LIU's historic campaign in style.
"What an amazing ride this season has been," said head coach
Brett Riley. "I could not be more proud of our seniors for ending on such a high note, and of our program as a whole. From stepping into a three-win season in year one to reaching the 20-win plateau, this is something truly special. All the credit goes to our outstanding group of young men. We can't wait to see what the future holds for our six graduating seniors."
LIU won seven of its last eight games, including a marquee 5-2 win over No. 17 Notre Dame on Oct. 26, followed by a 2-2 tie against Wisconsin on Jan. 18.
The Sharks are expected to announce their annual professional signings in the coming week.
