LORETTO, Pa. – The Long Island University men's volleyball team (9-3) opened its weekend in Pennsylvania with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-22) sweep of the University of Charleston (6-8, 3-1 EIVA) on Friday evening at DeGol Arena.
"It was a clean game tonight for us and having some guys back from illness and injury is helpful," said head coach Justin Beaumont. "Anytime we can get a win on the road, we'll take it."
The Sharks were led by
Kale Spencer who amassed 14 kills while hitting .333 in his return after missing the previous three matches.
Chase Celichowski also made in impact, totaling eight kills and three digs in his return after missing last week's lone match.
Reigning Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Christopher Knowles posted another strong two-way performance with nine kills and six digs. Setter Roei Horowitz recorded 30 assists and led with 12 digs.
As a team, LIU hit .272 for the match, while Charleston attacked at a .159 clip.
The Sharks return to action on Saturday versus George Mason University at 4 p.m. in another neutral site contest hosted by Saint Francis University.
