BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University football team has reached an agreement to play a home-and-home series against the University of North Dakota in the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The Sharks will kick off their 2026 season on Thursday, Aug. 27, in Grand Forks, North Dakota versus the Fighting Hawks at the Alerus Center. It will be the first all-time meeting between the two programs.

North Dakota will make the return trip to Shark Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2027.

This past season, LIU finished 6-6 overall, compiling the most overall wins in a single season during the program's Division I tenure. The season was highlighted by a 28-23 win at Eastern Michigan University, the program's first-ever win over a Football Bowl Subdivision team.

North Dakota finished the 2025 season with an 8-6 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Fighting Hawks reached the FCS Playoffs defeating 13th-seeded Tennessee Tech University, 31-6, in the first round before falling to No. 4 seed Tarleton State University, 31-13, in the second round.
