DOVER, Del. — The Long Island University women's basketball team (3-1, 0-0 NEC) claimed its second road win of the season on Saturday, defeating Delaware State University 70-56 in a non-conference matchup.
With the win, the Sharks make their first 3-1 start to a season since the 2011-2012 season.
The Sharks held a narrow 31-28 lead at halftime, but outscored the Hornets 29-16 in the third quarter to take firm control of the game before claiming its eventual 14-point win.
Junior Kadidia Toure led all scorers with 21 points, collecting a team-high 13 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season. Graduate student Hannah Humphrey (15) and junior Janessa Williams (10) also finished in double figures.
LIU outrebounded the Hornets 40-28, and forced 17 Delaware State turnovers.
The Sharks return to the floor on Thursday, Nov. 20, at home against American University. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
