HAMILTON, N.Y. — Nearly one year ago, in their first-ever meetings, the LIU men's hockey team swept its two-game series against Colgate, winning both games 4-3 in overtime. This weekend, the Sharks travel to Hamilton, N.Y., for the first time in program history to face the Raiders in a Friday and Saturday matchup at the Class of 1965 Arena.
LIU, coming off a 27-goal, 3-0 homestand, hits the road for the first time in 2025 to kick off a four-game road trip. The trip includes a stop in Madison, Wisconsin, for a pair of games against Big Ten powerhouse Wisconsin on Jan. 16-17.
The Sharks (12-7-1), who have 14 games remaining this season, are off to their best start in program history. They are just four wins shy of tying their program-record 14 wins, set against Stonehill on Feb. 24 during the 2023-24 season.
LIU will seek its seventh and eighth conference wins against NCAA contenders when it takes the ice against Colgate (ECAC) on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (5 p.m.).
"It is always exciting to play one of the top teams in the ECAC," said head coach
Brett Riley. "This will be a great challenge for our team and should be a great weekend of hockey."
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
