Erie, Pa. — LIU lost a double-overtime thriller to Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon, falling by a score of 85-80.
This was the second game in just six days that went to overtime between these two teams, as the Sharks previously defeated the Lakers at home 72-63 in single overtime on Jan. 20.
Despite trailing early in the contest, LIU fought back steadily in the second half and ultimately forced overtime thanks to key buckets by Brent Davis and Blake Lander to end regulation.
Brent Davis led four Sharks scorers in double-figures by pouring in a season-high 20 points, knocking down five shots from deep (also a season-high) and playing all 50 minutes in the contest. Lander added 14 points, as did Jamal Fuller. The big man also led LIU with 8 rebounds and dished out a season-high 5 assists. Jalen "Roc" Lee chipped in with 11 points, reaching double-figures for the first time since Dec. 14.
The Sharks will hit the hardwood once again on Thursday, Jan. 30, hosting CCSU at 7 p.m.
