FORT WORTH, Texas — The LIU Sharks stepped out in front of over 44,000 screaming Horned Frogs fans when they took the field against TCU on Saturday night at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
While the Sharks were resilient all night and put together some drives late in the game, TCU ultimately came away with the win.
"TCU is a really good football team, they are top tier," said head coach
Ron Cooper. "I am proud of the way our players played and we have to move forward and get ready for next week."
Coach Cooper also highlighted the experience competing in front of a crowd of over 40,000 fans. He said, "It's a great environment and it's always good to bring your team into this kind of environment. It's good for our players to experience this."
Redshirt sophomore quarterback
Luca Stanzani was responsible for the two longest plays from scrimmage for the Sharks, a 16-yard scramble and a 28-yard toss to wide receiver
Aviyon Smith-Mack.
LIU had several bright spots on defense, including the play of freshman defensive back
Kyon Conyers, who had three tackles, two of which were for losses. Linebacker
DQ Watkins netted five tackles with one for a loss, while cornerback
Dylan Merrell made five solo tackles.
The Sharks return to Brookville for their first home game of 2024 when they host Lehigh on Saturday, September 14, at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 12 p.m.
In celebration of its 125th anniversary, Nassau County will be hosting "Nassau Day" at the Sharks home matchup with Lehigh. Nassau County will distribute complimentary tickets to youth football leagues and organizations across the region to celebrate this monumental anniversary.
