QUEENS, N.Y. — LIU women's volleyball ended its weekend at the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic with an impressive 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-19) win over Iona.
Redshirt senior outside hitter
Iremnur Elmas, who was named to the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team, had a team-high 14 kills, and was nearly flawless in returning opposing serves. Senior
Jordan MacDonald followed suit with 13 kills, with both players having a successful attack percentage over .400.
"Tonight's victory was a prime example of a full team effort," raved head coach
Amable Martinez. "Standout performances by Jordan and Irem showed a great level of ball control from the pin and they led the team with their attacking efficiency."
Freshman
Airyanna Kline put together a solid performance for the Sharks, picking up a career-high four kills, while another Freshman,
Miabella Musignac, tallied six digs and two assists.
Martinez added, "We received critical contributions from both freshman and upperclassmen, which shows a great balance of talent as we head into conference play."
The Sharks head to Binghamton to play the Bearcats on September 29 at 1 p.m. before returning home on October 4 to host Saint Francis University and begin NEC competition.
