STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The LIU men's and women's cross country teams kicked off their season on Saturday morning at Stony Brook University, competing against Stony Brook, Fordham, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, and Wagner.
The men's team finished in fourth place in the 6k race.
Aidan Haughian led the Sharks with a 16th place finish, clocking in at 20:09.50.
Robby Levy followed closely in 18th place with a time of 20:16.60. Other notable finishes included
John Schwab (20:27.20),
Josh Roos (21:12.50),
Perry Balsamo (21:12.80),
Ryan Bailor (21:17.60),
Darin Cofield (21:34.50), and
Tyrese Bowes (22:12.10).
For the women's 4k race,
Hasnae Goulamzi was the top performer for LIU, finishing 12th with a time of 14:51.60.
Josephine Critchley (16:41.50),
Ally Carillo (16:59.40), and
Amira Hussein (19:23.80) also competed strongly.
The Sharks will next compete at the LIU Fall Fest next Saturday at LIU Post.
