STORRS, C.T. — LIU headed to Storrs to start its 2024 season with a weekend set of games, kicking it off with a matchup against the hosting UConn Huskies.
The Sharks will spend the weekend in Connecticut facing off with the aforementioned Huskies, followed by Sacred Heart on Saturday and Youngstown State on Sunday.
LIU put up a tremendous effort against UConn in their second and third games, but the Huskies came away victorious 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-23).
Setter
Selina Koç was all over the court, finishing the evening with 12 assists and six digs, while
Bria Plante and
Bella Correia paced the team in kills with eight and seven, respectively.
LIU was a force defensively at the net garnering five blocks, four more than the Huskies, with three of those coming from Plante.
The Sharks return to action Saturday against Sacred Heart at 2 p.m., also at UConn's Freitas Ice Forum.
