BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — In what's been a decorated preseason for the Long Island University football team,
five different Sharks were named to the 2024 Phil Steele All-NEC Preseason Team.
Earning First-Team honors are offensive lineman
Jake Timm, punter
Will Lynch and special teams star/wide receiver
Michael Love, who earned two First-Team nods as both a punt returner and an all-purpose special teams player.
Love earned two Second-Team selections, one at receiver, and the other as a kick returner, cementing himself as the top special teams weapon in the conference. Offensive lineman
Kristos Fernandez and linebacker
DQ Watkins were also named to the All-NEC Preseason Second Team.
This is the third year in a row that Lynch has been named to a Phil Steele All-NEC Preseason team, with this year being his debut on the first team. Earlier today, Lynch was named to the
2024 FCS Punter of the Year Preseason Watchlist.
This is also the third-straight year Love has earned this honor, though it's the second-straight year he's seen his name on the first team.
For Fernandez, Timm and Watkins, this is their first seasons earning Phil Steele All-NEC Preseason honors.
The trio of Timm, Lynch and Love
also earned 2024 All-NEC preseason honors, along with defensive back
Caleb Nartey.
