BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The Division I 2023-24 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars were announced on Thursday with five Sharks from men's golf being recognized. The five honorees are the most for LIU since merging sports programs in 2019.

Carlo Edoardo Lasi, Taimur Malik, Marcelo Mexsen, Ary Mohan, and Lewis Wright all received recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), which is in the first year of its partnership with Cobalt Golf.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, Division I golfers must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0,  and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

"I am really proud of the guys handling their business off the golf course," shared LIU Director of Golf Ben Belfield. "I also want to highlight the academic achievement of Lewis (Wright), who had a perfect 4.0 this past semester."

2023-24 has been a highly-decorated year for the Long Island University men's golf program. Eight men's golfers were named to the NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, with four earning Commissioner Honor Roll accolades.

Wright, who was named as a GCAA All-America Scholar last year, was honored earlier in 2024 by the GCAA when he was selected to the 2024 NCAA Division I PING All-Northeast Region Team. Mexsen earned First-Team All-NEC honors while Malik was named Second-Team All-NEC.
