BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU men's lacrosse team improved to 6-1 in MAAC play after its 13-12 win against Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon.
LIU opened up with a 5-3 first-quarter lead after goals from
Tom von Bargen,
Sean Boll,
Mark Regan,
Nick Kasica, and
Cam Connolly.
Connolly and Regan would find the back of the net once more in the second quarter, and
Ryan Baudo tallied a goal as the Sharks took an 8-7 lead into the half.
Connolly, who scored a team-high four goals, would tally a pair in the second half, and Boll would complete the hat trick to give LIU a 9-7 lead in the third quarter.
Owen Stefanko's goal with 2:39 remaining in regulation would give the Sharks a two-goal advantage and prove to be the game-winner for LIU.
Shaun Hill went 13-28 on face-offs, and
Nicholas Davide caused three turnovers. Brother
Tyler Davide also had a pair of caused turnovers for LIU.
Karl LaCalandra scooped up a trio of ground balls in the win.
Mark Regan and
Tommy Ramsey both scooped up a team-high four ground balls for LIU.
Jasper Simon stopped nine shots.
LIU next plays at Marist on Saturday at 7 p.m. before returning to Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium to host Quinnipiac on April 20 for Senior Day and Youth Day.
